WhatsApp Calls Keep Dropping: How to Fix It
Your voice or video calls cut off after a few seconds or minutes, or the audio breaks up badly before disconnecting.
Try these in order
- Get on a stronger connection Make sure you have a strong, stable Wi-Fi signal, move closer to the router, or try a different network (WhatsApp Help Center).
- Turn off battery saver Power-saving modes throttle WhatsApp in the background and cause dropped calls (TickTechTold).
- Turn off your VPN VPNs add lag and instability that WhatsApp calling doesn't tolerate well (TickTechTold).
- Disconnect Bluetooth and check your mic Bluetooth headsets can interfere with the signal; also make sure no other app is using your microphone or camera (TickTechTold, WhatsApp Help Center).
- Clear the app cache and update WhatsApp On Android go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Storage > Clear cache, then check for an app update (TickTechTold).
- End the call and start again Sometimes simply hanging up and redialling, or toggling the camera and mute off and on, fixes a bad connection (WhatsApp Help Center).
- Reset network settings or reinstall Reset your network settings, and if calls still drop, reinstall WhatsApp (TickTechTold).
Still stuck? On a home or office network, ask whoever manages the router to allow WhatsApp calling on UDP and TCP ports 3478, 3480 and 3484 (WhatsApp Help Center).
