Amazon Login Problems: How to Fix It

Amazon won't accept your email or password, or it keeps asking for a security code you never receive.

Try these in order

  1. Check exactly what you're typing. Use the full email address (or the phone number with country code) that the account was created with, and remember passwords are case-sensitive — check Caps Lock (Amazon Customer Service).
  2. Sign in without a password. Enter your registered phone number or email and Amazon will send a one-time code you can use to get in (Amazon Customer Service).
  3. Resend the code, or get it another way. On the verification screen tap "Resend OTP," or choose "Send OTP by WhatsApp" if texts aren't arriving (Amazon Customer Service).
  4. Fix code delivery problems. Check your phone signal, make sure the phone number in Login & Security is current, clear a full message inbox, restart your phone, and confirm Amazon's number isn't blocked (Amazon two-step verification help).
  5. Use the code within 10 minutes. One-time passwords expire quickly, so request a new one rather than reusing an old text (Amazon two-step verification help).
  6. Try the alternate sign-in trick on a new device. If you get an error on an unfamiliar device, type your password with the security code added directly to the end of it (Amazon two-step verification help).
  7. Reset your password. If your details are right and nothing works, run Amazon's password reset (Amazon Customer Service).
Still stuck? Reach Amazon Customer Service from the Customer Service Home Page (search "customer service" on the site or app) to recover the account (About Amazon).
