Amazon App Keeps Crashing: How to Fix It
The Amazon Shopping app closes by itself, freezes on a blank screen, or won't open at all on your phone or tablet.
Try these in order
- Update the app. Open your app store and install the newest version of Amazon — Amazon lists updating as the first fix for app errors (Amazon Customer Service).
- Force stop the app and reopen it. In your phone's Settings > Apps > Amazon, tap Force Stop, then launch the app again (Amazon Customer Service).
- Restart your phone. A simple restart clears temporary glitches and often gets the app working again (WirelesSHack).
- Clear the app's cache, then its data. Settings > Apps > Amazon > Storage > Clear Cache, and Clear Data if the crash continues — you'll just need to sign in again (WirelesSHack).
- Update your phone's operating system. Older software can be incompatible; Amazon's app needs a reasonably current OS version (WirelesSHack).
- Uninstall and reinstall Amazon. A fresh install replaces damaged app files that cleaning the cache can't fix (WirelesSHack).
Still stuck? Shop through your phone's web browser at amazon.com in the meantime, and wait for the next app update to fix the bug (WirelesSHack).
