Zoom Won't Let You Join a Meeting: How to Fix It
You click the meeting link and nothing happens, or Zoom says the meeting ID is invalid and refuses to let you in.
Try these in order
- Install the Zoom desktop app. If you're trying to join in a browser and it keeps failing, the installed app usually works instead (Zoom Support).
- Join by typing the meeting ID manually. Open Zoom, click Join on the Home tab, enter the meeting ID, then enter the passcode when prompted (Zoom Support).
- Double-check the ID and passcode with the host. If Zoom says the meeting ID isn't valid, ask the host to resend the correct ID (Zoom Support).
- Check your internet connection. An unstable connection is a common cause of sign-in and join failures (Zoom Support).
- Update Zoom to the latest version. Older versions can fail to connect; download the current release from Zoom's Download Center (Zoom Support).
- Clear Zoom's cache and cookies, then restart. Do this in the app's settings and restart your device or browser before trying again (Zoom Support).
- Uninstall and reinstall Zoom. Use the CleanZoom tool to remove Zoom completely, then install the latest version fresh (Zoom Support).
Still stuck? Ask the host to let you in by phone dial-in or to restart the meeting, and check Zoom's service status page in case there's an outage.
