YouTube Can't Sign In: How to Fix It
YouTube won't accept your account, shows "There was a problem signing in", or keeps signing you out.
Try these in order
- Restart your device The simplest fix, and it clears most sign-in glitches (YouTube Help).
- Check you're using a Google Account YouTube sign-in only works with a Google Account (YouTube Help).
- Update the YouTube app Open Google Play or the App Store and install the latest version (YouTube Help).
- Add your Google Account to your phone On Android, add the account in your device settings and then try YouTube again (YouTube Help).
- Uninstall and reinstall YouTube Do this even if you already have the latest version — a fresh install often fixes it (YouTube Help).
- On a TV or console, reset the YouTube app Go into the app's Settings and reset it; note this signs you out if you were signed in (YouTube Help).
- Recover your Google Account If you can't sign in anywhere, including on a computer, run Google's account recovery process (YouTube Help).
Still stuck? Check that your device or games console is actually supported by the YouTube app, then contact YouTube Support through the Help menu (YouTube Help).
