Telegram : How to Fix It
Telegram won't let you back into your account — the login code never arrives, or your two-step verification password is rejected.
Try these in order
- Enter your number in international format Telegram expects +(country code)(carrier code)(your number), and only works with mobile numbers, not landlines (Telegram FAQ).
- Ask for a phone call instead Tap "Didn't get the code" to have Telegram call you and read the code out, which works when SMS delivery is failing (Guiding Tech).
- Check for the code inside Telegram If you're still signed in on another device, the code arrives as a message from the verified Telegram account rather than by SMS (Telegram FAQ).
- Turn off your VPN A VPN can make Telegram treat your login as suspicious and block it, so disable it and try again (Guiding Tech).
- Check Telegram's server status Look at a site like Downdetector; if Telegram is down in your region, wait for it to be fixed (Guiding Tech).
- Fix your phone's date and time Turn on Automatic date and time on Android (General management > Date and time) or Set Automatically on iPhone (General > Date & Time) (Guiding Tech).
- Reset your two-step password On the login screen tap Forgot password, continue, enter the 6-digit code sent to your recovery email, then set a new password (Guiding Tech).
