Snapchat Notifications Arriving Late: How to Fix It
You only find out about Snaps and messages when you open the app — notifications show up hours late, or not at all until you unlock your phone.
Try these in order
- Check Snapchat's in-app notification settings Tap your profile icon, tap the gear to open Settings, then Notifications, and make sure the toggles for the alerts you want are switched on.
- Turn on notifications in your phone's settings Snapchat notifications have to be enabled at the device level too, or the in-app settings won't do anything.
- Turn off battery saver or Do Not Disturb Power-saving modes and focus modes stop apps from checking for new messages in the background, which is what causes the delay.
- Check your internet connection Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or move somewhere with better cell service — a weak connection delays delivery.
- Update Snapchat Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play, since notification bugs are often fixed in updates.
- Restart your phone Turn it fully off for a minute and back on to reset the notification service.
Still stuck? If notifications are still slow, try clearing your Snapchat cache in Settings, or uninstall and reinstall the app (make sure you know your password first). Snapchat Support can help if the problem continues.
