Outlook Notifications Not Working: How to Fix It
New mail arrives but you get no pop-up, badge, or sound to tell you about it.
Try these in order
- Check your Teams status. If Microsoft Teams is set to Do not disturb, Outlook alerts are suppressed too (Microsoft Support).
- Turn on Windows notifications. Go to Start > Settings > System > Notifications and confirm "Get notifications from apps and other senders" is On and Do not disturb is Off (Microsoft Support).
- Find Outlook in the sender list. In the same Notifications screen, scroll to Outlook and make sure its notifications are switched on (Microsoft Support).
- End any focus session. Settings > System > Focus, then select Stop focus session if one is running (Microsoft Support).
- Turn off Battery Saver. Settings > System > Power & battery — Battery Saver holds back notifications until it's off (Microsoft Support).
- Check Quiet Hours if there's no sound. On Windows 10 and 11, Quiet Hours silences notification sounds even when banners appear (Microsoft Support).
- Make sure mail is actually arriving. If nothing new is syncing, notifications have nothing to announce — force a sync from the View tab (Microsoft Support).
Still stuck? If a notification setting is greyed out, your workplace IT administrator has turned it off, so contact them (Microsoft Support).
