DoorDash Payment Error at Checkout: How to Fix It

DoorDash won't take your card — you see a payment error, a message asking for a different payment method, or the Place Order button won't work.

Try these in order

  1. Double-check your card details Confirm the card number, expiration date and security code are all entered correctly, since any mismatch makes the order fail (DoorDash).
  2. Check the billing ZIP code If the ZIP code on file with your bank doesn't match what you entered, the order won't process (DoorDash).
  3. Look at the rest of the checkout screen A greyed-out Place Order button usually means something else is incomplete — a required item choice, sold-out item, invalid address, or an expired promotion (SpinEats).
  4. Remove and re-add the same card Delete the card from the checkout page or your account, then add it back with the number, expiration, CVC and billing ZIP, and select it before retrying (DoorDash).
  5. Don't keep tapping Place Order Check your Orders list and email first to confirm no order was created, so you don't accidentally pay twice (SpinEats).
  6. Try a different network or the website Switch networks, restart the app, or place the order on DoorDash.com in a browser to rule out a stale app (SpinEats).
  7. Try again a bit later with the same card DoorDash suggests simply retrying the order later before assuming the card is the problem (DoorDash).
Still stuck? If every card and restaurant fails, contact your bank first — DoorDash directs you to your financial institution when troubleshooting doesn't work — then contact DoorDash support with the exact error message (DoorDash).
