CapCut Keeps Crashing or Freezing: How to Fix It
CapCut closes suddenly while you're editing, freezes when opening a project, or gets stuck on a loading screen.
Try these in order
- Force close CapCut and reopen it Open your recent apps view, swipe CapCut away, then reopen the app and load your project again (TechBabble).
- Restart your device Power the phone or computer off completely and back on to clear temporary system processes that cause freezing (TechBabble).
- Update CapCut Install the latest version through your app store, since updates include bug fixes and stability improvements (TechBabble).
- Clear the app cache (Android) Go to Settings > Apps > CapCut > Storage > Clear Cache — this removes temporary files without deleting your projects (TechBabble).
- Free up storage Check Storage in your device settings and delete unnecessary files, because low storage makes editing apps crash (TechBabble).
- Close background apps before editing Video editing needs a lot of memory, so shut other apps down before you start editing or exporting (TechBabble).
- Simplify your timeline Remove unused layers and split very large projects into smaller segments if your device is struggling with lots of effects and overlays (TechBabble).
Still stuck? Try duplicating the project to bypass corrupted project data, or move heavy edits to the CapCut desktop version (TechBabble). If crashes continue, contact CapCut Support with your device and project details (CapCut Help).
